Does the age of my vehicle impact the end of contract damage costs?

The age of a vehicle has no bearing on charges for damages that have been found to be outside of fair wear and tear.

When BVRLA members review deterioration in the vehicles condition at the end of a contract or finance agreement, they consider the age, mileage, and whether the vehicle has been looked after sufficiently.

Fair Wear and Tear should not be confused with damage, which occurs as a result of a specific event or series of events, such as an impact, inappropriate stowing of items, harsh treatment, negligent acts or omissions.

How can I reduce the chances of incurring end-of-lease charges when returning my vehicle? What items do I need to return with the vehicle? My vehicle has been damaged but it wasn't my fault, why am I being charged? My vehicle had some damage but it was repaired. Why have I been charged? My vehicle was returned in immaculate condition / the inspector told me that my vehicle was in great condition. Why have I been charged? Can I have evidence that you have repaired the damage listed in the inspection report? Can I cancel my contract early? Does vehicle mileage impact the end of contract damage costs? The inspector used tools to demonstrate damage that is not obvious to the naked eye. Why am I still being charged?
